I was told that the First Secretary was home-
sick and troublesome from the beginning, and he it
was who persuaded Prince Chên not to return to the
postponed Coronation against the wish of the Prince
himself and the majority of his suite.
His name is
Wang Ta Hieh and he is a protégé of the Prince's
father. He comes after Sir Liang Cheng in the list
furnished to us but he, I believe, claimed to rank
above him in Peking as he was an Under Secretary of
State
