Sir:-
I have the honour to report that it is the
intention of the French Government to open a Post
Office in the Amoy business quarter on the lat
proximo. I have just learnt that the Director of
the French Telegraph has hired a room for a Post
Office in the Offices of "essrs. Kung Phoe Chun and
Company in the buitish Concession. I am sending
for the representative of the firm and pointing
out to him that he is infringing the Conditions of
his leasc, which require the written ssent of 10
Britannic Majesty's Consul before an alien can
occupy any building on the British Concession.
Such assont I shall not give without, applying to
you for instructions.
