I am directed by Mr Sec: Cham: to ack:
the receipt of your letter of the 10th instant
on the subject of the piece of landad joining
the British Post Office at Shanghai.
2. In view of the fact that the British
Fostal Agencies are finding increasing diffi-
culty in competing with the Foreign Agencies
and that the Govt: of Hong Kong has recently
been pressing for an increase to the Imp-
erial subsidy on that ground, Mr Chamberlain
considers it desirable that the land should,
for the time being at any rate, be leased
to the Postal Agency at a nominal rental.
