(1) I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of 14th August, 1902,enclosing a Report of
the Director of Public Works, Hong Kong, dated 28th June,
1902, forwarding one by Messrs. Denison, Ram and Gibbs,
(16th June, 1902) the Engineering Firm,to whom the super-
vision of the construction of these works has been ent must-
ed.
I have not replied sooner, as I was from home, and
had not the necessary documents before me.
(*) When I was in Hong Kong, a conference took
place, at which the Director of Public Works, Mir. Gibbs and
myself, were present. This happened, after an inspection
of the ground, and an examination of the plans. I append
a copy of the note of proceedings, made at the time.
(*) I will now consider the points, raised by the
Director of Public Works, in his report dated 23rd June,
1902.
It is proposed to give force to my recommenda-
tions with the exception of
(a)
(b)
"Gauging streams during construction of Dan".
*Employing artificial filters at the intakes
"of streams, on the line of main, between the filter-beds
گوگو
and service reservoir.*
