Sir,
I have the honour to reopen the question as
to the salaries of certain clerks in the Registrar-General's Depart
-gent.
I would recommend that darks 1,3,5 and 6 be placed in Olass VIII of the Classification Scheme, and that the present officers start with initial salaries of $240 sach, and thet celrka 3 and 4 be also placed in Olass VIII with initial salaries for the present officers of $300 each.

I would most respectfully request that the Secretary of Stats be asked, as early as possible, to grant these incresses, and that if granted, that they may late from the First of the New Year.

It is impossible to obtain clerks, upon whom certain responsibility must rest, and who are to remain honest, for such salaries as $14 or 315 a month.
