I have the honour to transmit for your
favourable consideration the enclosed copy of a letter which
Mr. Moosa, Deputy Superintendent in the Money Order Office of
the Post Office addressed to the late Postmaster-General in
1901 asking for an increase of salary. The application was not
entertained at the time as Mr. Moosa was new to the post and
it was desired to see how he would acquit himself in it. The
Acting Postmaster-General now recommends that the post of
Deputy Superintendent of the Money Order Office should be
placed in the 3rd. instead of the 4th. class in the Classifica-
tion Scheme, and the Local Auditor to whom I referred the re-
commendation states that he is of opinion that the responsibili-
ties of the post are such as to render an increase of pay
desirable.
2.
Mr. Moosa, the present incumbent of the
post, has been nearly 20 years in the Service and the Acting
Postmaster-General considers him to be one of the few old and
really useful Officers left in the Post Office and fully
deserving of promotion, while the Local Auditor reports that,
as far as he has seen his work, Mr. Moosa is an efficient
Officer for the appointment he is holding.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN, M.F.,
