I am directed to acknowledge receipt.of your letter of the 28th. ultimo on the subject of the proposal to adopt the Metric System of Weights and Measures in Hongkong and to inform you that at a Meeting of the General Committee held on the 18th. instant it was unanimously decided to strongly support the proposal for the compulsory adoption of the Metric System of Weights and Measures throughout the Empire.
I am to add that, as the Metric System
is understood and largely in use in this Colony, comparatively little difficulty would be found in adopting such a change.
