I think this is a most sensible suggestion, and I recommend that 0. 0. Hongkong Volunteers be approachel with a view to arranging a waəbing as suggested by Major Baker Brown. It must be understood that I should not feel myself justified in making any recommendations to the Tar Office, unless I had some assurance that. a strong and permanent allition to the Zngineer Company of the Hong- kong Volantears would be the result,
។
As jarls the paragraph in Major Baker Brown'a letter which bouches on the question of drill, I, for one, should be satisfied if the drill of this his ce confinel to the very simplest of movements; shooting being the only essential, however, these and other points could be discussed if a meeting as sugfestel could be arcanged.
