The Japanese Cruiser "Chitosi" furnished
one of the most interesting objects among the illuminations.
Throughout the day, which was observed as a Public Holiday,
demonstrations of the greatest loyalty and rejoicing were
manifested.

On the 13th instant, I received His
Majesty's Most Gracious acknowledgment of the Resolution of
the Councils conveyed in your telegram of the 18th instant
and lost no time in making it public. The Colony was much
gratified at being thus remembered by His Majesty.
