Sir,
With reference to your cypher telegram of the 14th ultimo and my reply of the 25th, a copy of which is inclosed, I have the honour to inform you that my telegram contains practically all the information on this subject which I have been able to obtain.
2. The Captain Superintendent of Police states that so far he can learn no Indians have been enlisted at Hongkong by any foreign power. His informant, however, has told him that seven or eight Indians were selected at Hongkong some months ago for service under the French in North China, but thirty Indians were actually chosen, and they never actually went.
