With reference to the last par. of the letter from this Office of the 22nd instant, respecting the transfer of War Dept. land to the Colonial Govt. at Hong Kong, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Chamberlain to request you to inform Mr. Secretary Brodrick that a tel. has been sent to the Governor, enquiring whether the range alluded to in par. three of the desp., a copy of which was enclosed in that letter, was granted to the Naval authorities by the Colonial Govt. or by the Military authorities, and instructing him to send home all the correspondence on the subject.
2. The Governor was further instructed that the valuation might proceed, the range being valued with Brodrick's concurrence separately.
3. As regards par. four, Mr. Chamberlain proposes to reply that the point raised by pars. 2 and 3 of the letter of Jul 4 to the C.O.O., a copy of which was enclosed...
