Sir,
With reference to my Despatch No.186 of the 4th May, 1900, I have the honour to transmit for your consideration the enclosed copy of a statement which has been furnished by the Principal Civil Medical Officer detailing the additional Staff which will be required for the Victoria Hospital for Women and Children. This Hospital is nearing completion and will be ready for occupation early next year.
It is therefore desired to provide for the Staff for it in the Estimates for 1903.
2. The Principal Civil Medical Officer assures me that the Staff detailed in the enclosure hereto is the minimum with which this Hospital, which will contain 44 beds, can be managed. I have therefore to ask your sanction by telegraph to provide for these new appointments in the Estimates for the coming year.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient
Humble servant,
M.J. Gascoigne
Major-General, Administering the Government.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN, M.P.,
