With reference to the letter from this dept of the 11th of March I am directed by the Governor to forward to you for the consideration of Mr Secretary Chamberlain a copy of a despatch from the Officer Administering the Government of Hongkong reporting that the purchase of Kowloon Marine Lot No. 35 has now been effected.
2. I am to ask that, if their Lordships see no objection, they will give instructions for the payment of the commuted Crown Rent, as was done in the similar case referred to in your letter of the 9th of Sept 1899, W.L.2982/2463.
3. With regard to Mr Chatham's claim for remuneration for his services in connection with the transfer of this property I am to refer you to your letter of the 18th July 1898, W.L.1995/2021, and to the letter from this dept of the 22nd of the same month and to suggest that as in that case, Mr Chatham might be paid
