On his arrival in this Colony, I was informed that the officiating Engineer of the Sanitary Department had made a proposal, and I shall be glad to receive a full expression of your opinion on this and the other recommendations which have been made with regard to the staff under the Sanitary Board.
It is proposed to fill up the vacancy, and it will be very advantageous to this country.

The following buildings are to be accommodated in the same department: Inspector of Schools, Audit Office, and Sanitary Board Office.
This is convenient and there will be much convenience in getting all the departments together, but the present proposal would result in little, if any, saving.
A sum amounting to $5820 per annum will be saved, and the expansion is necessary.
The saving is more than the salary of the Sanitary Board Office.
