2. The salary voted in the Estimates is
$4,880 rising to $5,400, which with
double exchange compensation at
the rate of 24 to the dollar
amounts to £720 rising to £800 per
annum.
3. Mr. F. Boulton has been
thirteen years in the Colony. Before he came here he was in Rome. He is a Scotsman, capable, and industrious. He is very hardly of good education, thoroughly desirable in manners and address. But he is that social standing which are required of an officer who will have many direct dealings with members of the public, and who might be called upon to act as Director of Public Works.
C-V Aberdeen Harbour Works have been under his supervision.
4. With the natural growth of the Colony, he came here to build the Peak Tramway. The acquisition of the new Territory, and the whole time he has been in charge of important nature of the Public Works which are being undertaken by your projected employment he has been engaged as Director of the Praya Reclamation Works. He has therefore not had a varied experience. He is an Assistant who can able to relieve him of a great deal.
