I am directed by Mr. Secretary Chamberlain to inform you that he has had under his consideration your letter of the 15th instant, addressed to Sir Henry Blake.

As regards the circumstances Dr. Luson might properly be excused the refund of the payments made to him at the higher rate, including in respect of the current month, I assume that this decision will meet with your concurrence.

I should be glad if you would inform Luson that the pension at the rate of $2494 a year was subject to approval.
