is already far advanced it will be unnecessary to do so this year. The whole of the 8 Doctors were engaged for a period of 6 months from the date of arrival in the Colony. At the expiration of that period the plague season will have ceased, and it is hoped that the services of the 4 remaining Doctors can then be dispensed with. The 4 that remain comprise the three at the higher salaries mentioned. The four Doctors whose services have been dispensed with have not made any claim upon this Government in respect of the unexpired terms of their 6 months engagements.
