resumption but it is possible that it can be arranged between the Director of Public Works and the respective owners, and we recommend that similar arrangements be made to prevent if possible the re-erection of ill-lit and ill-ventilated basements, in this block.
We understand that plans for the rebuilding of some of the houses which we recommend should be resumed have already been sent in to the Director of Public Works, so that the matter requires to be taken in hand at once.
We further recommend that no balconies should be permitted to be erected in future over Crown land in either Ladder Street or Upper or Lower Lascar Row.
