With reference to my Confidential Despatch

of
the 17th January and paragraphs 8 and 11
of
your open despatches 422 of the 19th December and
41680 your open despatch
of
the 2nd January last, with reference to the
proposed reduction
of
at least $215,000 in the
Estimates of Expenditure during the current year,
I have the honour to transmit for your information
the enclosed copy of a Minute by the Director
of Public Works, from which it will be observed
that he estimates the actual expenditure
on public works extraordinary during 1902 at $232,000 less
than the estimated Expenditure: a
result which
will be brought about
by
the postponement of
certain...
