The Clause in the Agreements of Hong Kong Police relative to the hours of work mentioned Constables has "6 hours and not "8 hours" for the last twenty years and I should be glad to know whether you wish that the alteration to 8 hours should be made in all cases or only in those of Water Police.

Mr Lucas: It would have been more convenient if Messrs B. & S. had raised the question when the grant of a 999 years lease of Marine Lot 3 was proposed.

The O.A.G.'s despatch contains a mistake. It is not the fact that the Dock itself will be partly on Lot 3 and partly on Lot 6: this can be seen both from the letter enclosed in this despatch and from the tracing in 35233/1901.

The real fact is that some of their Shipping works will be on one Lot and some on the other. The case is therefore not quite so strong as it is represented to be in the despatch.

There appear, however, to be sufficient grounds for granting the request. The tracing in 38722/1900 shows that the two lots must naturally go together as the curious shape of Lot 6 and the fact that the road cuts it off from the ground
