engaged for the Water Police and for the Water Police only.)

The statement in the Under Secretary's letter that my clients were not engaged specially for service in the Water Police seems to have been made without a careful examination of the evidence and without full knowledge of the facts alleged by my Clients which they say can be proved by reference to the Original Documents and I submit with great deference that as good reasons have been shown for doubting the accuracy of that statement the Government would not be justified in acting on it without an impartial examination of the evidence on both sides.

As further reference is to be made to the Secretary of State I shall be much obliged if you will forward to him the original or a copy of this letter so that he may have my Clients' case fully before him and be able to cause enquiries to be made as to whether or not their statements are correct.
