DESPATCH.
GENERAL
assist in the work of the Medical Dept.
5. The appointment is pensionable but the allowance of an addition of years for "professional qualifications" formerly granted to Medical officers in Hong Kong has now been withdrawn, you will accordingly not be entitled to this.
6. I am to ask you to be so good as to inform me at your early convenience whether you are prepared to accept the appointment. Should you accept it you will be provided with free passages to the Colony for yourself, your wife and not more than three children on your signing an agreement to refund their cost in the event of your leaving the service of the Govt within three years of your arrival for any reason other than that of mental or physical ill-health. Before leaving England you will be required to attend an eight-weeks course of training at the London or Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Further particulars on this subject will be communicated to you on the receipt of your reply.
7. I am to warn you that the cost of living in Hong Kong is very much higher than in this country.
