With reference to the letter from this department of the 10th inst.: I am directed by Mr Secretary Chamberlain to forward for the consideration of the P.M.G.5 a copy of a telegram from the Acting Governor of Hongkong, sent in reply to the telegram, in which, as you were informed by the letter above referred to, he was requested to cancel the order extending the Penny Postage system to the British Postal Agencies in China.

2. Mr Chamberlain would be glad to learn whether the P.M.G. sees any insuperable objection to allowing the arrangement to remain in force until the promised despatch has been received.
