A channel has been cut at Lei Yue Mun across an area of hilly ground, at low elevation as regards gravitation water supply, to convey the water by gravitation to a shoot from which large lighters can be conveniently filled at all states of the tide and drawn, which conveys the water for driving a mill, now used for grinding sandalwood, have been utilized.
On completion, the owner of the mill will be compensated for interference caused with his three large lighters, each capable of containing about 100,000 gallons. The locality is adapted for being one of larger lighthouses; these lighters will be filled from the shoot already referred to across the bay to the Praya where their contents will be pumped out by centrifugal pumps, while large brick tanks are constructed for the purpose along the Praya walls.
