In anticipation of the event, I inspected the streams on the mainland of the Territory, and several on the Island within a reasonable distance of the city, and had come to the conclusion that the most favourable for the purpose was one near Pokfulam, or more specifically near Join Wave, about 1½ miles distant in a north-westerly direction. Samples of the water collected from various points, which were submitted to her Majesty's Dockyard, showed that it was suitable for potable purposes. The present yield of the stream is estimated at 876,000 gallons per day, or about ... gallons per hour.
