With reference to the 3rd paragraph of your Despatch No. 314 of the 19th September last, in which you asked for a full report on the Cochrane Street Disaster, I have the honour to transmit herewith for your information the enclosed Report prepared by the Director of Public Works.
The suggestions made by Mr. Chatham in the course of his Report, in connection with the measures to be taken to prevent the occurrence of such disasters in the future, are receiving the careful attention of this Government.
