I shall be glad to learn that I have your approval of the measures which I have adopted in connection with this matter. I am of opinion that they will serve to counteract the efforts made by the French Postal Authorities to establish a connection in a Port where British interests and trade so largely preponderate.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient

Humble servant,

My Gascoigne

Major-General,

Administering the Government.
