To the new scheme of interpreters involved the non appt, in future, of European interpreters, except
for the highest post, but Mi Nolan
Bother Europeans, appears to have been appointed some years ago
as under the scheme pp 394-5 of Hong Kong Gazettes 1889. So far as can discover, he is the only European interpreter, besides Mr Ball, now left. Messrs Moore & Mackie (who are
referred to in 42616) are no longer interpreters
