We beg to thank you for your letter of the 5th instant advising us that Mr. Secretary Chamberlain, subject to the concurrence of H.M. Governor of Hong Kong, is prepared to agree that, under the exceptional circumstances of the case, the Lease to be granted to us of the Quarry Bay Marine Lot No. 2 Extension shall be for a period of nine hundred and ninety-nine years on the condition that the land is used for the proposed Dock, to which condition, we of course unhesitatingly agree.
