So far as I can find out, the Scan You has not recommended any one for the post of Assistant Director of Public Works.
Hay Ray in succession to Chatham, Jot, again to an autriche, would in my opinion be a good appointment.
The post has its salary fixed in sterling £660 rising to £960. Inimal increments of £30. (There is also a small conveyance allowance.)
587 An appointment of Director of Public Works Salary, $200 a year, rising to $800 with exchange compensation or half salary.
At the present rate of exchange, this is equivalent to £8, 6s. 8d. to £66, 13s. 4d.
It is not absolutely certain that the Governor's recommendation on the salary will be adopted.
