I have the honour to apply for permission to retire on pension.
I attained the age of 55 years on the 8th May last, and have been in the Colonial service without a break from the 20th April 1866, 35 years and 2 months.
When I obtained leave of absence from Hongkong for seven months in March, it was not my intention to retire, but I now feel that my health has become so impaired...
