The facts often reveal that certain officers in the service have been granted additional years to their pensions (when they retire) for professional qualifications, and now there are three classes.
They received five years, under this list comprised Engineers, medical men, Surveyors, Harbor Engineers, and others, and thinking what was granted at length.
I can forward a full account if you are disposed to kindly take a perusal of it. Some years ago, I think it was simply 1895, a representation was made to the Secretary of State and it was contended that certain officers should be treated with the same consideration as medical men in the service, who have recently been placed on an equal footing regarding salary.
When the new rules were introduced, I had representations similar to those mentioned in the letter by legal members against the right to be included in the Schedules.
I addressed the Secretary of State on the subject. The Colonies have a Land Surveyor who have never been included in the Schedule.
There are also others who have a special claim. This is a case of injustice to the officers whose professional qualifications are not being recognized.
