SIR GEORGE LEWIS GEORGE J. G. LEWIS REGINALD WARD POOLE
474 ELY PLACE, HOLBORN, E. C. LONDON
190... acknowledge the receipt of your letter of yesterday relative to certain official correspondence by the Newspaper Company.
19690 We have had the papers in question carefully examined without finding any of the letters in question.
We were handed by the Colonial Office a list of the correspondence to inspect and were not allowed to make copies or take notes with our papers.
The representative of the Colonial Office had that correspondence in hand and we were told that if the documents had been in our hands we should have immediately returned them to you without waiting for power to apply for them.
Mr. Secretary Chamberlain says he will be of any further assistance for the due writing by anyone he will do so.
We beg to remain, Your Obedient Servants.
To the Under Secretary of State, Colonial Office.
