you will recollect that I observed to Mr. Lewis that though I did not in the least doubt that any question of privilege would be reserved the right to raise the question. To this he assented. I think it very undesirable that privilege should not be claimed. The letters should be produced & I think also the minutes, which will make it clear that Chamberlain and that personally never saw the papers The L.F. is in the hands of Messrs Kynoch & has no doubt been inspected by the defence

is hardly likely. The inference to be drawn from the production of the document, was that it was a mere routine matter. The must produce Messrs Kynoch's letter, L.F. K/4 1/4 & of the confidential circular referred to.

I think a very exhaustive search should be made to see if any other letters at any time between the dates mentioned have come from Messrs Kynoch whether any other papers referring to them are in our possession

the greatest care should be used to secure that these documents are not damaged or mislaid between the present time and the trial.
