I am directed by the Secretary Chamberlain to acknowledge the receipt of your letter undated, relative to your request to be allowed to retire on pension from the service of Hongkong.
I am to inform you that the correspondence on this subject has been referred to the Governor of the Colony, who has been asked to state whether you are entitled to retire on pension, and if so, what amount.
