I have the honour to state that the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies may be pleased to give some employment in his department, whether permanent or temporary by reason of stress of work or need of extra assistance.
As you are aware, I have been recently placed on pension from Hongkong on account of unfitness to return to that Colony, owing to my health. My health in this Country does not preclude me from doing work; in fact, I find that a want of occupation is not conducive to a buen life. Hence I venture to make this application.
