Sir,
Our Agent in Hongkong informed us some time ago that a Memorial which he addressed to the Governor, Sir Henry Blake, with reference to the effect on this Company's Telephone Lines by the working of a proposed Electric Tramway in Hongkong, had been forwarded to the Colonial Office in London for consideration in conjunction with the latter enterprise.
This Company being practically owned by the Oriental Telephone & Electric Co. Ltd., of which Sir Auckland Colvin, K.C.S.I. is Chairman, I am desired to enquire whether it would be convenient for you to see Sir Auckland on the subject, accompanied by one of my Directors who has a personal knowledge of Hongkong and of the conditions under which the business of both Companies could be carried on without injury to either.
Sir Auckland, who lives in the country, will be in town next week and would be prepared to call at the Colonial Office on either Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday
