Expenditure.

3. The total Expenditure of $3,628,447.13 exceeded the total Estimate by $408,588.13, and was greater than the Expenditure of 1899 by $465,654.77.

The excesses on the various Heads, amounting in gross, as shown in the Account, to $466,110.30, have been duly provided for by Supplementary Appropriation Ordinance (No 17 of 1901) with the exception of $53,581.78 under the Head "Military Expenditure · Contribution to Imperial Government".

This additional expenditure is due to the fact that the contribution is based on the Revenue of the Colony which, as shown above, greatly exceeded the Estimate.
