Mr H. Blake, with concurrence of Committee, proposed to contribute $50,000 and the Chamberlain approved.
Mr H. Blake telegraphed asking no loan from Hongkong & Shanghai Bank £12,500 being the contribution from the Colony.
The Bank informs us that they have received instructions to pay the $12,500, and that a cheque for that amount was tendered to Bank of England, who declined to receive it pending confirmation from Colonial Office as to the account to which the amount should be placed.
The cheque has been mislaid since Saturday, but we have been unable to recover the papers till now.
The Chamberlain should be asked to endorse a cheque, which is in order of "Colonial Secretary" authorizing payment of the money to the Memorial Fund.
