Taking the franc at 25 francs 20 centimes and the dollar at S., A. 1/11.44, 50 centimes of a franc are equal to 20.3 cents of a dollar; and, in these circumstances, Mr. Secretary Chamberlain may think that the adoption of 25 cents (which implies a dollar of 1/7) as the equivalent of 50 centimes cannot be justified; and he will perhaps advise the Colonial Government, in all the circumstances of the case, to adopt 20 cents of a dollar as the proposed equivalent.
