With reference to the Colonial Office letter of the 16th May last (16090/1901) requesting this Department to nominate two officers for the rank of Examining Supervisors in the Post Office of Hong Kong, I am directed by the Postmaster General to inform you that the particulars furnished respecting these posts have been made known in the London Postal Service and that several applications have been received from Postmen.
The only two applicants who can be recommended are Messrs. C. J. Benson and T. H. Martin, Town Postmen, and copies of their applications are annexed.
It will be seen that both desire further particulars respecting the situations and the conditions of life in Hong Kong.
The Postmaster General will be glad to be informed what replies should be given to the enquiries of Messrs. Benson and Martin.
