With reference to your letter of the 20th instant, 44746/1901, asking for a reply to your letter of the 30th ultimo, on the subject of exchange of military land in Hong Kong; I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you, for the information of Mr. Secretary Chamberlain, that a telegram has been received from the General Officer Commanding requesting that further action may be stayed pending the receipt of a communication from him.

Mr. Brodrick will cause a reply to be furnished to your letter above quoted as soon as the communication in question has been received.
