Sir,
With reference to your letter 29772/1901, of the 3rd September 1901, I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that, before proceeding further with the question of the liability of the Colony to provide free of cost to this Department the Crown land, if any, comprised within the area at Devil's Peak, Hong Kong, shown on the plan enclosed in the War Office letter 266/Hong Kong/28 of the 22nd July 1899, it would appear desirable to ascertain the extent and the value of the Crown land in question.
Mr. Secretary Brodrick would therefore be glad if he could be informed of the extent and the value of this land.
I am,
sir,
Your obedient Servant,
Fleetwood Wilson
