With reference to the 3rd paragraph of your letter of the 3rd November last, No:31905/1900, in which a request is made that the sum of $10,465.07 may be paid over to the Government of Hong Kong on account of land handed over to the War Department, I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you for the information of Mr.Secretary Chamberlain that it is understood that reference is made to the balance standing in favour of the Colony in the Colonial Military Lands Account.
