I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to forward, for the information of Mr. Secretary Chamberlain, the accompanying copy of a letter of the 2nd March 1901 received from the General Officer Commanding in China and Hong Kong, enclosing a copy of correspondence which has passed between the Colonial and Military Authorities at Hong Kong relative to certain land required as a site for a proposed new battery at West Point, Hong Kong, indicated by the red dotted line on the tracing attached, and which was taken over in August last.

2. It will be observed that the Colonial Government claim that in consideration of its transfer to the War Department the value of the land, plus Crown rent capitalized, amounting altogether to $64,935.90, should be credited to the Colony in the Colonial Military Lands account.
