Dear Sir Montague Ommanney,
I enclose copies of telegrams which have passed between here & the War Office regarding the withdrawal from Malta of the three Battalions of Native Infantry that were moved from Malta to Crete in consequence of disturbances in Crete. General Sir Charles Warren, as you will see, deprecates this withdrawal. Lord George Hamilton, considering it is a matter which primarily affects the War Office (and the Colonial Office when I was addressing a similar letter) desires me to ask you
