Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

your letter No.16091/01 of the 11th ultimo requesting us to

recommend a candidate for the post of Wardmaster for the

Medical Department of Hong Kong.

I now beg to submit the name of Mr C. F. O'Brien

of the Banstead Asylum, Sutton, who has been nominated to

us by the Medical Superintendent of that Institution and

who states that he is a good man at his work and of good

character.

Mr O'Brien has recently been engaged on board

the hospital ship "Maine" and has produced an excellent

testimonial as to the manner in which he carried out his

duties during the time he was employed in that vessel.

Mr O'Brien has passed a satisfactory medical

examination by Dr Patrick Manson as to his fitness for

service in Hong Kong.
