With reference to the letter from this Department of the 30th January, 1900, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Chamberlain to state that there has been laid before the Lords Commissioners of H.M.'s Treasury, a valuation, at the prices current on the 2nd January last, of the securities held against the Note from the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.
