With further reference to your letter of the
31st January 1901, No. 3861/1901, relating to the
purchase of the Briquette Factory, Marine Lot No. 35,
at Kowloon, I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of
the Admiralty to acquaint you for the information of the
Secretary of State for the Colonies that Their Lordships
are now in a position to proceed with the negotiations
for the property in question, and They would be glad
therefore if the Secretary of State would be so good as
to telegraph to His Excellency the Governor of Hong Kong,
authorising him to purchase the property for the Admiralty
at a price not exceeding $2 a square foot.
