In reply to your letter of the 13th on the subject of the engagement of an Assistant Superintendent for the Hong Kong Police Force, I am directed by Mr. Chamberlain to inform you that the Governor of the Colony reports that he was prepared to wait until it was known whether a suitable candidate was available.
